The Human Mind Part 2

Mental illness is a crisis that is having devastating affects on people's lives. It is often gripping, very tormenting, and affects not only the recipient of it, but family members, friends and sometimes strangers. The world is talking about this problem that continues to grow, but does not know the real remedy for it. Medicine is believed to be the cure -- but, it is not. It is a blanket for the problem, but the illness still remains under the covering.

In Luke 8:26-41, Jesus encountered a man who had lived in the wilderness and made his home tombs because he had many devils inside of him. He wore no clothes and the devils he was possessed of eventually took over his entire movements and thinking. The people of the town tried many times to subdue the man by shackling him down with chains, but the man consistently broke the chains because of the power of the devils who had taken over his mind and body. He was known to cutting himself and was very ferocious.

Naturally, when people encounter or hear of someone doing the things the man in the wilderness was doing, they count them as mentally ill, make jokes about the person, and many times do not subscribe the correct remedy to the situation, so the person struggles with a back-and-forth experience or a constant issue until they encounter a premature death many times. Or, they never truly achieve the relief in their life they are supposed to have because of medicine that is designed to mask the problem and not cure it.

In the story in the book of Luke, this is an extreme case of what people call today mental illness. In most cases, what society calls 'mental illness,' starts small and overtime incrementally increases to obvious unsettled outbursts/meltdowns or egregious acts that are not conducive to everyday productivity. The symptoms can be hearing things, deep depressive states, constant nightmares, immobility, extreme phobias, believing someone is out to get you, paranoia, talking to yourself, loneliness, and more. It is a slow takeover of spirits or demons taking over your mind.

Mental illness can come about in many ways, but the main root of it is fear and depression, then it evolves from there. Once the door to these two (fear and depression) are opened long enough the other spirits can join the intended takeover of your mind. That's when it can get to levels of what we see in society of homeless people with schizophrenia, and even the man living in tombs in the Bible.

Let's go deeper to understand what mental illness really is. Mental illness is a spirit or spirits taking residence of the mind by what a person constantly watches, listens to, meditates on or agrees with. If you are constantly watching horror movies, you are allowing the spirit of fear to take over real estate in your mind. If you are constantly on social media meditating on the negative things people are saying about you, or what you do not have, you are allowing a depressive spirit in. The other way mental illness can occur is through a person or people you are around often. They can plant seeds of fear, doubt, and/or sadness into your mind by their words. All of these are ways real estate is taken in your mind by a spirit. This is why you must be careful of who you spend your time around. They can be unintentional or intentionally sowing fear into your mind without you catching it.

There is warfare on the earth that is happening in a 24 hour, 365 a day basis spiritually. Most people think what they are seeing is a physical war. It is actually a result of spiritual warfare that has manifested physically. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." The verse is saying, the warfare that you are seeing with your eyes is not from people you can see, it is all influenced by the spiritual realm, and through God (who is spirit), and you trust in God through the spirit, He will free you from the strongholds in your life.

When Jesus encountered the man who was naked and living in tombs with what society would call schizophrenia, the demons that were inside of the man spoke in trembling to him saying, "What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?" The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs." Jesus said, "Go!" Immediately every demon inside of the man left his body and mind and went directly into the herd of pigs. The man was swiftly freed of the impure spirits that had taken over him, and thanked Jesus for the relief and all that he had done for him. This was possible because the name of Jesus is above every name. That means every impure spirit, demon, devil, witch, or sorcerer. Every name must bow to the name of Jesus.

The Bible specifically shows us that mental illness is not an illness, but an impure spirit or spirits that have taken over real estate in your mind. Prayers and full commitment to the word of God are what drives out impure spirits -- not medicine. Jesus gives us authority over impure spirits and devils, just like He has, when we receive Him in our life as Lord and savior. Although medicine has been a bit of a help to many, the word of God is the true answer and freedom from them.

It is very important that you protect your mind with daily prayer and Bible verses that keep you protected. Your mind is the most valuable real estate you will ever have, and it was given to you from God. It is essential for you to keep and protect it. It is the pathway to your entire destiny on earth. Without it, you have nothing.
